Hoi An to Ho Ci Minh City - Tuesday 7th October, 2014.

Left our hotel Sunrise Hoi An at 11.00am and taken to Da Nang Airport just over half an hour away. Caught the Vietnam airways flight at 1.30pm for Ho Chi Minh City. Just over an hours flight.  Today was our eighth flight on this trip, two to go.

We left Hoi An in quite a strong stormy winds. In fact last night just before bed time a very strong wind and rain went through. I had never been in such strong winds, quite scarey. They have warned us that it is the start of the typhoon season.
Good flight down much better than our flight from Hanoi to Hue, yet same type of plane. The previous flight the engines screamed, this one they purred. Felt a lot saver.

Arrived in HCMC and went straight to hotel settled in and we had arranged to meet John Cathcart (Jenny C's son) at 6.00pm to take him out to dinner. Had a great time catching up with him, very nice restaurant, somewhere, at this stage didn't know where we were.

Looking out from our room. The storm was set in before we left.

It looks quite calm here but the wind was roaring, can't get this impression in a photo.

Above and below the beach we had been swimming a couple of days ago. Now closed too dangerous for swimming.

Looking up at our room PT waving. Good room one of the best positions.

These photos taken for Des, he wanted to see more of our Hotel. Still at Hoi An.
Front entrance.

Breakfast dining room. Really full breakfast, they had everything you would ever want. Kept us going for the day.

Reception/foyer area.

Another little friend. Isn't she just so cute.

Now at Ho Chi Minh, Liberty Central, Saigon Riverside Hotel room 9007. Note nearly all the hotels we have been at in China and Vietnam have glass windows between the bedroom and the bathrooms. Nice modern room, quite a new hotel.

View from our window looking down the river ( very brown looking river wouldnt suit the greenies).

While we were waiting for John we had a quick look round the hotel. This is the roof top swimming pool 24th floor. Overlooking the river.

 Looking down from the pool

Standing at the back of the pool bar, looking straight out over the pool, down to the river.

Hotel foyer.

Out for dinner with John. This one is for you Jenny C.

Had a nice evening with John and possibly going to do the same tomorrow. We will sort ourselves out tomorrow getting to know our way round the city and deciding what we are going to do while we are here.
This city is so different to the north. Very big, modern and very busy. Thunder and lightning late this afternoon, raining when we came out from dinner. This is quite common this time of year. It was sunny when we arrived.
Not a lot to talk about today as mainly just a travelling day between cities.
